Miranda is considered the Gate of the Southern Pantanal, once the world biggest flooded plain begins in Miranda. From its entrance, the tourists can already see samples of the typical Flora that compose the Pantanal on both sides of the highway – so as several species of the local Fauna, mainly birds. Founded more than 200 years ago, the Miranda city has buildings more than 100 years old, such as the Sugar Factory which used to produce sugar from the sugar cane in the past. This building will be soon turned in to a museum in a way of preserving Miranda's history.

Its altitude is around 126 m compared to the level of the sea and it has a warm and semi humid climate with an average temperature of 30°C. Its economy is based basically in the cattle breeding activity, agriculture, commerce and tourism
